Random Thoughts

#1 It bums me out that blopspot doesn't recognize SCRAPBOOK as a verb.

#2 I played poker last night with Wade and two of his friends. I WON!!! Very exciting.

#3 I'm still wearing my pajamas and it's 2:30 in the afternoon

Past: This week has been so busy for me, even though I am done with work this school year! Monday I hung out with Chris (went to the South Coast Plaza… very nice), Tuesday and Wednesday I was at my sister’s house (the one who’s moving!!!).

Present: Finally today I get a chance to do some things around the house, get ready for poker night tonight, and start packing for my East Coast Trip!!!

Future: We are leaving next Wednesday for Washington DC, then on to Boston, then finally to New York. I am so so so excited, but weirdly enough, kind of bummed that I won’t be able to scrapbook at all! I have my journal though, so I can always write/sketch/doodle something down when (if) inspiration hits. I am totally bummed that I will be sans the Internet while I’m gone. But I guess I’ll have to make do just going to museums, eating out every day and spending much needed quality time with Wade!

Outside: I finally took down the Christmas lights. Wade tried to convince me that we should just keep them all year. Then that Sunday when we were relaxing on the Green Belt, we heard two kids on bikes making fun of the “house with their lights still up. how stupid!”. That was enough motivation for me!

Inside: I just need one more person in my life. I need someone who really gets this scrapbooking thing as an art, and not as simply a hobby. I need someone who gets excited about going to a scrapbook store, who appreciates the beauty of hambly rubons, who can relate to my worries about running out of adhesive when I go to a crop. I need someone who would rather spend time scrapbooking than anything else. I need someone who gets so into their pages that they forget to eat, they forget their aching backs, and they forget all their worries. I need someone who will stay up until 2 in the morning even if they have to go to work early the next day, just to do a mini-book. And I need this person to live close by so we can do all these things together. That’s all I need.

What I Should Be Doing: Cleaning the house, Packing for the East Coast Trip, Getting party supplies for Monday's luncheon, Doing laundry, Washing dishes...

What I Am Actually Doing: Scrapbooking, Organizing pictures on the computer, Fooling around on the Internet, Wasting Time...

Pick A Dare

I found the effers website a little late in the game (by the time I found it, they were on dare 50 or something!) I was all stressed out because I love things to be chronological, to have a definite beginning and a definite ending, and most of all, I hate being left out! So, to fight these obsessive tendencies, I figured out a way to participate in all the dares even though I am eons too late! I printed out all the dares and cut them out. I folded each dare and put them in a container. Here they are:

When I need inspiration, I choose 3 pieces of paper, and from those three, I choose one to do. Tonight I chose DARE #20 {aLTeReD sTaTe! It's time to get crazy and attack a photo like you never have before! sand it, paint it, chop it, transfer it - whatever you choose to do to alter your picture to the maximum degree. no holding back! have fun - i can't wait to see!}

The journaling says:
...when you're late, when there's traffic, when it's hot, when it's raining, when you're out of ideas, when you layouts suck, when you're rubons won't rub off, when you write you're instead of your (retard), when your writing's too small, too big, crooked, when you have to write on bumpy cardstock, when everyone else's pages are better than yours, when you waste money on albums you'll never use, when you see a Gucci bag you can't afford, when you someone asks if you are Chinese, when your face is too fat, when your pants don't fit, when you change your mind, when you can't make up your mind, when life throws you shit... don't fall apart!

2 posts in 1 day??? Madness...

Out on the lake today we saw this duckling. So cute.

Wade's good friend Scott who works for Oakley brought me some new sunglasses!!! You can't tell from this picture, but the frames are deep red with little sparklies in it. Love them!

I Need Some Pics!!!

Gosh, I love scrapping. I just can't seem to get enough of it these days! I'm getting to the point where I'm running out of pictures!!! I can't wait for our East Coast Trip! Hopefully I'll have enough pictures to last me the rest of the summer!

Here are some layouts I got done this weekend (so far!)

And here's a picture of my sister's kids! They are so so so smooshy! I'm gonna miss them SO much!!!

How was your weekend?

WEEEEEEE!!!!

On Wednesday, Wade uploaded something from the computer and ever since then I haven't been able to access certain websites (he didn't think it was that big of a deal, because he could still look at basketball scores and skateboarding sites!) I couldn't bog, I couldn't check my e mail, and worst of all, I couldn't log on here, which is ALL the craze right now.

BUT I FIXED IT!!! Gosh, I amaze myself sometimes... I guess my Asian-ness had to come out some time!

WEEEEEE!!!!

My Lovely Sunday

Today, after our Sunday Morning ritual of walking to the donut store for coffee and breakfast, Wade and I decided to do some reading on the greenbelt behind our house.

We got a blanket, our books and brought the hounds out to a nice sunny spot and set up camp.

The hounds didn't really like it. Otis was all antsy and kept barking at people as they walked by. We tried rawhide treats to keep them occupied, but that only worked for a few minutes.

Finally we gave up and put them back in our backyard. Wade and I stayed on the grass until FIVE O'CLOCK!!! We read, talked, took naps, ate chicken wings, called our moms to wish them a Happy Mother's Day, and best of all, just relaxed!!! It was unbelievable.

Then, on a whim, we decided to go up to Long Beach to have dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp. We called up our good friends Russ and Jeanna and luckily, they were able to join us. Jeanna even let me take a pic of her beautiful big belly!

Actually, MY belly feels like this pic from ALL the good food we ate!

What did you do this weekend?

Productivity

I got SO much done today. Here are two layouts I did:

This one is titled IT'S NOT FOR THEM:

This one is for Dare 66. It's titled ME TO YOU.

I finally finished my East Coast Bag (actually finished it last night). The second picture shows the three compartments on the inside: the one on the left is padded so I can put my camera in it, the middle will act as the 'purse' part, and the right one is for my travel journal. The last picture is a copy of a drawing my 4 year old niece did for me of a person. I stole her design, so I hope she doesn't mind!

And here is the travel journal I've been working on. I plan on taking it with me on my East Coast Trip.

Next Monday and Tuesday are my LAST DAYS of tutoring for the school year... YAY!!! I'm so excited to have NOTHING to do during the summer but scrapbook and sew and paint and anything else I WANT!!!

I watched the first two episodes of HEROES on the computer last night. I hope they keep them online for a while, because I would love to spend ALL summer watching the WHOLE season!

Have a good day!!!

Just For Jamie

Here's the picture I started with:

Here's me as a baby. I've got some stylin' specs for a baby!

Here's me as a japanamation character. I'm not sure why I have "STAPLER HAIR" as a japanamation girl, but whatever.

Here's me with a big big nose.

Here's me as a Caucasian. Evidently all Caucasians have square jaws and frizzy hair. Actually, it kind of looks like a girl I went to college with. Maybe she was my white Doppelganger!

I really like these pics. The more and more I look at them, the better I feel about my actual face! WOO HOO!

I declare July 4th "National Candice Day"

The first time I wrote a post, my dumb computer erased, so here goes another try (always getting back on that horse, right?)

I miss my Tabasco sauce. I refuse to buy another one. At some point I figure my need for spice will outweigh my stubbornness, but it hasn't happened yet.

Haven't scrapped a layout in over a month. I am currently obsessed with mini books (I have 3 on going projects right now!) Here's one of the three I've been working on:

Still working on my East Coast Bag. I only have the strap left to attach, but since I have to do it by hand, I am lagging. I have the day off tomorrow, so I'll probably take it to Chris' to work on it.

She said we can do anything we want tomorrow as long as it doesn't involve the sun.

Last weekend I scrapped all Friday night with Mihaela. It was great. I refused to do anything even remotely artsy on Saturday (just out of spite for NSD, or as the rest of the world calls it CINCO DE MAYO!!!) and on Sunday I was feeling MUCHO uninspired, so I didn't push it.

Wade decided that our TWO WEEK long East Coast Trip wouldn't be enough, so we are going to Las Vegas in July. It's crazy hot, but we gamble all night long, wake up around lunch time, eat, then spend all day at the pool. Then we start ALL over again!!! It's so great.

My sister is moving up north with her family (the one who thinks my blog is me being narcissistic!). It was kind of short notice (especially for her, since she is so not the impulsive type). Luckily I have a week off before she moves, so I'll be able to see her and her kids as much as possible before they leave me alone here. It sucks though, because just when the school year lets out, she goes and takes her WHOLE family and leaves! Here's a pic of her and me on my birthday last month:

That's it so far. I'll keep you posted

(Are you reading this? If so, say hello, would'ya? It makes me happy.)

This sucks.

I just wrote an amazing post and my crappy computer deleted it. Now I am late for work. More later - sorry.

Wednesday Morning

Finals are coming up at the college I work at, so everyone is going crazy!!! People started scheduling me for finals 3 weeks ago, so this week and next will be crazy full of work (I'm a math tutor by the way... have I ever mentioned that here?). Not looking forward to it.

Working on a new bag for our East Coast Trip. I wanted something that would double as a camera bag and a purse.

Here's what I have so far:

I stole the birdie outline from a page I saw on the effers' dare site. He's so cute!

I've been looking at other blogs lately, and a lot of people are talking about The Office, Heroes, American Idol... all those shows. I don't have television, so I have never seen some of these TV shows everyone is raving about. (to clarify, I do own A TELEVISION, it's just not hooked up to any sort of
tv cable - hence, I can watch DVD's and VHS tapes, but don't get a SINGLE TELEVISION CHANNEL). A couple of weekends ago I was at Mihaela's house and there was a Heroes Marathon on... I watched about 5 hours worth of tv!!! That's what happens when you don't have tv at home; you become a zombie at other people's house trying to replenish what you've been missing! Anyway, I feel a bit sad that I can't relate to these other blogs and that for the most part I have no idea what they are talking about when they make tv references. Oh well...

If you've noticed, I changed my pic on the main page. The old one was way too depressing. Forget what the old one was? It was this:

I look like a deer caught in the headlights of an oncoming semi!!! The new one is much more pleasant, I think.

Wade's friend Jeremy came over the other night. We opened up our coffee table (it's really a big toy chest that I refinished. Now it doubles as a coffee table SLASH storage box) to find a
boardgame we could play. In order to do so, we had to remove everything from the TOP of the coffee table, including my HUGE bottle of Tabasco Sauce. We pulled out CLUE and played a couple of rounds. The next night, I go to look for my beloved Tabasco Sauce, and it is NOWHERE to be found. I have no idea WHO moved it or WHERE it was placed - and we've looked EVERYWHERE for it!!! I even made Wade call Jeremy to ask him if he remembers where it was put. He CLAIMS that I was the one who moved it... I'm going CRAZY without my spicy goodness! WHERE COULD IT BE?????

I've been watching AMELIE for days now. I forgot how great of a movie it is. Audrey Tatou is BEAUTIFUL.

Going to go sew now. SEW!?!?!?!
