My Christmas Vacation

I made an album for my sister and gave it to her for Christmas:

Spent 5 days up north to see my brothers, sisters and my sister's kids.

I came home to find three ornaments in the mail from the RV Ornament Swap. (They inspired me to make the little penguin!)

P.S. I made these collages with PowerPoint, Marie. You should try it - it's amazing!

Productivity

I got SO much done today. Here are two layouts I did:

This one is titled IT'S NOT FOR THEM:

This one is for Dare 66. It's titled ME TO YOU.

I finally finished my East Coast Bag (actually finished it last night). The second picture shows the three compartments on the inside: the one on the left is padded so I can put my camera in it, the middle will act as the 'purse' part, and the right one is for my travel journal. The last picture is a copy of a drawing my 4 year old niece did for me of a person. I stole her design, so I hope she doesn't mind!

And here is the travel journal I've been working on. I plan on taking it with me on my East Coast Trip.

Next Monday and Tuesday are my LAST DAYS of tutoring for the school year... YAY!!! I'm so excited to have NOTHING to do during the summer but scrapbook and sew and paint and anything else I WANT!!!

I watched the first two episodes of HEROES on the computer last night. I hope they keep them online for a while, because I would love to spend ALL summer watching the WHOLE season!

Have a good day!!!

Wednesday Morning

Finals are coming up at the college I work at, so everyone is going crazy!!! People started scheduling me for finals 3 weeks ago, so this week and next will be crazy full of work (I'm a math tutor by the way... have I ever mentioned that here?). Not looking forward to it.

Working on a new bag for our East Coast Trip. I wanted something that would double as a camera bag and a purse.

Here's what I have so far:

I stole the birdie outline from a page I saw on the effers' dare site. He's so cute!

I've been looking at other blogs lately, and a lot of people are talking about The Office, Heroes, American Idol... all those shows. I don't have television, so I have never seen some of these TV shows everyone is raving about. (to clarify, I do own A TELEVISION, it's just not hooked up to any sort of
tv cable - hence, I can watch DVD's and VHS tapes, but don't get a SINGLE TELEVISION CHANNEL). A couple of weekends ago I was at Mihaela's house and there was a Heroes Marathon on... I watched about 5 hours worth of tv!!! That's what happens when you don't have tv at home; you become a zombie at other people's house trying to replenish what you've been missing! Anyway, I feel a bit sad that I can't relate to these other blogs and that for the most part I have no idea what they are talking about when they make tv references. Oh well...

If you've noticed, I changed my pic on the main page. The old one was way too depressing. Forget what the old one was? It was this:

I look like a deer caught in the headlights of an oncoming semi!!! The new one is much more pleasant, I think.

Wade's friend Jeremy came over the other night. We opened up our coffee table (it's really a big toy chest that I refinished. Now it doubles as a coffee table SLASH storage box) to find a
boardgame we could play. In order to do so, we had to remove everything from the TOP of the coffee table, including my HUGE bottle of Tabasco Sauce. We pulled out CLUE and played a couple of rounds. The next night, I go to look for my beloved Tabasco Sauce, and it is NOWHERE to be found. I have no idea WHO moved it or WHERE it was placed - and we've looked EVERYWHERE for it!!! I even made Wade call Jeremy to ask him if he remembers where it was put. He CLAIMS that I was the one who moved it... I'm going CRAZY without my spicy goodness! WHERE COULD IT BE?????

I've been watching AMELIE for days now. I forgot how great of a movie it is. Audrey Tatou is BEAUTIFUL.

Going to go sew now. SEW!?!?!?!

My fun weekend.

This weekend was definitely full of activities, which is a huge change since usually I stay home on weekends and hang out with Wade. On Saturday morning I met my parents in Irvine and we say a live-feed of Puccini's Il Trittico. I was really amazing! Then after we went to the Cheesecake Factory with some of their friends. Saturday night I met up with my girls (Chris and Mihaela) and we ate at a wonderful Japanese Restaurant called Fukada. After we got our udon on, we headed over to Timeless Treasures for a night crop. We definitely had a great time there, but I was sort of hoping to meet other scrappers. There were about 15 other ladies there, but we were the youngest by at least 10 years and most of them were either talking about their kids or about calories... weird.

But it did give me and my girls a chance to evaluate our new friendships with each other (we started our "friendship" mini-albums). Chris wrote the sweetest journal entry in my album and Mihaela and I got a chance to talk about how much we love our new threesome. Whenever we end a perfect day like Saturday, I am always the first to ask when the next time we will meet will be. I'm so happy they are letting me force my scrapbooking junk on them! (Chris even used the word "crop" in a sentence! I was so proud of her!)

I decided to try to sew today (Sunday). I haven't sewn anything since I started scrapbooking, so I had to rummage through all my boxes of old material. I had so much fun making things! I think I'll go to a fabric store tomorrow to find some yummy prints for future projects.

Here's a new bag I made today. It's dark blue denim on the outside and has a patterned cotton mix on the inside (cream with muted red stars and moons). It has two cell phone holders (one for me, one for work) on either side of the bag (inside).

Here's a close up of the detail. I just used a sewing machine to make the bird and stars.

That was my weekend. How was yours?
